Food for Thought: September 20

Belonging shouldn’t require constantly editing who you are.
There may be places where you naturally adjust, compromise, or meet people halfway.
But that’s different from repeatedly silencing your opinions, interests, personality, or needs just to avoid disapproval.
Pay attention to where you feel pressured to become less of yourself.
Acceptance means more when you don’t have to disappear to receive it. 💜

Where in your life do you feel most free to be yourself, and where do you notice yourself holding back?

  1. Beautiful quote
“You don’t have to make yourself smaller in order to feel accepted ”

We should be ourselves and sometimes let go of people who make us feel smaller….
As we can’t make them all happy we’re not coffee ☕ anyway 😅

Your post reminds me of people who would look down upon me just because I was not faking myself to fit in .
    Guess what I did
I just limited my connection with them and I’m so happy now and above all I’m Me. ✨

    1. I totally understand what you mean because I’ve been there too. Even after I recognized what was happening, it still took me some time to find the courage to make the changes I knew I needed to make. I had to learn to stop trying to fit into other people’s mold and start living my life in a way that felt true to me.

At the end of the day, everyone is allowed to live their life the way they choose, and I believe we deserve that same respect in return. We can be mindful and respectful of others without living according to their expectations or feeling responsible for how they react to every choice we make. We only get one life, and we deserve to live it in a way that brings us peace, happiness, and contentment.

I’m glad you chose what was best for you and can now say, “I’m Me.” 💜
