Daily Prompt: Don’t You Forget About Me

Imagine yourself at the end of your life. What sort of legacy will you leave? Describe the lasting effect you want to have on the world, after you’re gone.

“What sort of legacy will you leave?” It’s such a thought provoking question that makes you really think about your life. I contemplated writing about this because there is a part of me that made me think of the inevitable. There’s this uncomfortable feeling about it and I think it’s because I’m afraid to think about that moment. I’m sure most people can relate to this but when we really think about it, life is too short and unpredictable. This borrowed life that we have will someday be taken from us so we must make every effort to live it fully guided by kindness, respect and love for one another. I hope  to be remembered as someone who possessed those characteristics and actually lived by it. To be thought of as someone who took the time to listen and understand when nobody did. That the words I’ve spoken somehow made a difference in someone’s life even in the smallest way. I hope the photographs that brought me joy would do the same to others and that my writings have somehow lifted someone’s spirit and awaken their hope and faith in life. I also want to be remembered as someone who never gave up on life and kept fighting despite facing many adversities.

I know I’m far from being perfect but to be remembered as someone who touched people’s lives even in the simplest way means that I will live forever in their hearts and that to me is a life well lived.
