Why I Wouldn’t Change My Name

If you had to change your name, what would your new name be?

“If you had to change your name, what would your new name be?”

It’s an interesting question — and I surprised myself with how quickly I knew my answer: I wouldn’t.

My name, Edelweiss, is more than just something I write on forms or introduce myself with. It’s a gift from my parents, chosen with thought and love. The name carries history, beauty, and meaning — just like the flower it comes from. Edelweiss symbolizes resilience, deep love, and devotion. I’ve always felt honored to carry that symbolism with me.

Of course, it hasn’t always been easy having a unique name. It often gets mispronounced, shortened, or adapted depending on who’s saying it — from family and friends to coworkers and even strangers who decide to wing it. But instead of being frustrated, I’ve learned to see the humor in it. Every version holds a different story, a different relationship, and a different shade of affection.

Appreciating and loving the name given to me is my way of honoring my roots and the people who gave it to me. It reminds me of who I am, where I come from, and the love that shaped me.

So no, I wouldn’t change my name. I’m happy being Edelweiss — even if I have to help people pronounce it now and then. 😁

    1. Thanks so much! The W is pronounced like V (just like V in BTS 🤣). I just had to throw that in there. 😂 I’ve been a little distracted blogging these past few days since V, RM, JK, and Jimin have been discharged from the military. I’m back into ARMY mode making BTS reels on TikTok. 🤣 I’m just so happy that they are almost complete and that my bias is back. 😁 Ten more days and Yoongi will be back, making BTS officially complete!

      2. Suga is finally home! 💜 I watch a lot of their videos too, and they always make me laugh. They’re so relatable! I love how down-to-earth they are…even the silliest things make them laugh. Such humble guys. They never let their status go to their heads. And I totally agree about their aura, they bring pure joy and inspiration.

      6. Oh btw my name also has a W which is also pronounced as “V” in BTS 😂 ( my name is secret for now ) people always spell my name wrong and weirdly 😂.
