What role does music play in your life?

Music. What role does music actually play in my life? Significant I must say. Music is a significant part of my life. I can never go for a day without listening to music and I can’t help myself from singing along with it too! I’m sure many of you can relate to that :).  My day actually starts with listening to music as my alarm clock plays one of my favorite songs in the morning. I listen to music in the shower. I listen to music while driving. Music has always been a part of my life. As a matter of fact, my name is actually  musical too! It’s Edelweiss! My parents are musicians and I was named after the song Edelweiss from the Sound of Music :). It’s funny when sometimes I randomly meet people who loves the Sound of Music and the song Edelweiss and would start singing it to me. I always thought that was pretty cool!

Many of us doesn’t just enjoy listening to music for the sake of listening. Listening to music is a form of self-expression. Just like many, music helps me deal with my emotions. It helps me express my innermost thoughts and feelings which I find difficult to describe at times; but music helps me do that. It’s like having a theme song for each event in my life where each song reminds me of people, places and situations in life that I’m either struggling with or thankful for. Music helps me release those emotions. Music helps me heal. It helps me see things in a different perspective. Music inspires me. It gives me joy and it soothes my soul.
