One for the Books: Our First BTS Concert as a Family

Describe one of your favorite moments.

If you had told me years ago—back when I was pregnant and mildly annoyed at the bright hairstyles of that group called BTS—that one day I’d be singing and dancing along to their songs with my daughter and husband, I wouldn’t have believed you. But here we are, and I can say with my whole heart: becoming a BTS ARMY family has been one of the most unexpectedly joyful journeys of my life.

It all started during the pandemic. My daughter heard Dynamite for the first time and was instantly hooked. She became a “baby ARMY,” dancing around the house with the kind of pure joy only a toddler can bring. That song became a soundtrack to our days—uplifting, playful, full of light. And before I knew it, I was dancing too.

But the seeds were planted earlier, in subtle ways. I’ve known about BTS for years. I remember watching their performances at the Billboard Music Awards in 2017 and 2019, feeling proud and curious, though I wasn’t a fan—yet. It wasn’t until I became a fan of Park Bo-gum, thanks to Song Hye-kyo and the K-drama Encounter, that I began to truly discover BTS. Learning that Bo-gum was close friends with Kim Taehyung (V) opened the door wider. I found myself listening to more songs, watching performances, and slowly falling deeper into the BTS universe.

Fast forward to 2025: when J-Hope announced his Hope on the Stage tour and we saw Brooklyn on the list, we knew we had to be there. We made the decision to surprise our daughter—and the moment we told her, on our way to New York, her reaction was priceless. She was beaming. She loves BTS as much as we do and affectionately calls them her “Uncles.” This wasn’t just a concert—it was a core memory in the making.

And what a memory it was.

Hope on the Stage: Day 2 in Brooklyn was nothing short of magic. J-Hope didn’t just perform. He commanded that stage with soul, fire, and joy. Every moment was intentional. Every visual, every movement had meaning behind it. You could feel the love he has for performing—and for ARMY. It wasn’t just a show; it was art. It was connection. It was heart poured out under stage lights.

The energy in the room was electric, but also warm. ARMYs were so kind, so friendly. It felt like being surrounded by family. And as I looked over and saw my daughter dancing, laughing, and singing along—and my husband smiling wide, completely immersed in the music—I felt this deep, overwhelming gratitude. This was one of those moments you want to freeze in time.

Our first BTS concert as a family—and it couldn’t have been more perfect.

It was more than music. It was celebration. Connection. Healing. And pure, unfiltered joy.

It’s one of my favorite memories, and one I’ll carry with me forever. 💜

Some moments aren’t just memories, they’re milestones of the heart. Our first BTS concert as a family was one of them. 💜💜💜

    1. J-Hope is exceptionally talented, and he’s really set the bar high for K-Pop soloists. Have you seen everything he’s been up to lately? And his new song and music video? It’s like WOAH and WOW! 🤣 The guy’s a total genius in his craft! 💜
