Daily Prompt: My Brand Journey

What brands do you associate with?

What brands do I associate with? πŸ€”

Back in the day, before having a family I didn’t shop as smart as I do now. You know, newly grad, just got a great paying job and no other responsibilities than myself, I had this “Hey, I worked very hard in college and graduated with honors, so I deserve to treat myself”, that type of mentality. I bought whatever I wanted without thinking of the price tag. I’m not an uber-extravagant shopper, but I’ve made some poor choices squandering my hard-earned money on a $175 La Mer cream (that was the price 19-20 years ago) that I used once and a couple of Sevens jeans priced between $150-$200 that I couldn’t wear anymore after gaining two pounds. πŸ™„ It only took two pounds and I couldn’t wear those jeans anymore because I don’t like wearing very fitted clothing. Anyway, I do love those jeans though so even though a part of me thinks I’m crazy for spending that much moolah on jeans, I’m still happy with it. I tried getting back to my weight to fit into those jeans, am still trying 🀣 but I don’t think it’s ever gonna happen. Aging seriously sucks and add getting pregnant to the equation. Forget it! πŸ˜‚ I think it’ll take some extreme discipline with exercise and diet if I want to fit in those size 26 jeans again. πŸ™„ Anyway, I kept those jeans for my daughter among other pricey things I bought when I wasn’t thinking straight. 🀣 By the time she’s able to fit in them, it’ll be vintage. 🀣 Omg, I’m sitting here at the kitchen table laughing silently thinking about the whole scenario. My cat keeps giving me the “Is my huMom okay?” looks. πŸ˜‚ My sweet fur baby always keeps me company whenever I’m blogging. She’s been like that since she was a kitty cat. 😻

Anyway, these days I shop a lot smarter, especially now that I have a family and I take care of all the shopping for us. I’m not as hung up on brand names anymore like I used to but I do have some favorite brands that are my go-to. These brands fall into the “affordable luxury” category. I prefer their products because of their quality, style, and fit. I also wait for things to go on sale now versus paying for the retail price. I especially love the sale at the end of the season. I think it’s so worth it to wait, especially if you have a growing child that needs new clothes all the time because of growth spurts. Patience is the key my friends, if you want a good discount on anything. Plus who doesn’t love a good discount? Even Taehyung (V of BTS) loves it! I saw an interview with him from a couple of years back where he said he realized he was famous when he was given a discount. 😁 Everyone in BTS is so humble. They are often referred to as “broke millionaires” because they get super excited with the simplest things like rice cookers or they fight over ice cream. 🀣
