When I think of a person that inspires me the most, there is one person that immediately comes to mind and that is no other than my dearest grandmother. I remember writing something about my grandmother a couple of months ago and that was prior to seeing her after 13 years! Last summer I finally got to see my dear Mamang (that’s what the familia call her) after 13 long years and it was definitely one of the highlights of my 2011 and of my life. It was a bitter-sweet moment because I went home to pay my last respects to my Uncle who passed away but it was also an opportunity for me to finally see my grandmother, mother (whom I haven’t seen for 23 years but that’s another story!), cousins who I grew up with and miss so much, uncles, aunts, other relatives and I finally got to meet my nieces and nephews! It was almost like a reunion for our family although we were mourning the loss of my beloved Uncle. I know that he’s in a better place now with the Lord and he’s watching over us.
Soooo…when the plane finally landed I was pretty nervous and excited! I kept thinking if my grandmother would recognize or still remember me after all those years. My mother said that she’s starting to forget things and sometimes have a hard time recognizing people. So, I was a little worried if she would recognize me…the baby whom she took care of since 2 months old and raised as if she was her own 🙂 I AM VERY FORTUNATE to have such wonderful grandparents especially a grandmother like her!
She’s the one person I admire the most. The one who always took care of everyone and cared so deeply about her family. She made so many sacrifices for her family and most especially for me. At the age of 59, she took me in and took care of me like her very own child. She gave me a very loving home. She became my mother and took care of me tirelessly since 2 months old and all throughout my teens. I gave her lots of headache but she never gave up on me! She is the most loving, caring, generous and sweetest person you’ll ever meet. She is the epitome of love, strength and loyalty. I can never repay her for what she has given me. I owe her my life and will forever be thankful that I am blessed with a wonderful Grandmother like her. So, I am honoring her on this special day and want her to know how thankful I am for all the wonderful things that she has done for me and our family. She truly is the GREATEST GRANDMOTHER anyone could ever ask for!!!
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY MAMANG!!! I MISS AND LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!
