Finding Happiness in Life’s Simple Moments

Daily writing prompt
What are 5 everyday things that bring you happiness?

Life often moves so quickly, and in the hustle and bustle, it’s easy to overlook the little moments that make each day special. But when I pause and think about it, I realize that the things that truly bring me happiness are the simple, everyday moments I cherish most.

One of those moments is my husband’s good morning hugs and kisses. The warmth of his embrace and the gentleness of his love in those quiet, early hours set the tone for my entire day. After he heads off to work, I always look forward to the message he sends letting me know he arrived safely, and wishing me and our daughter a beautiful day. It may be a simple gesture, but it warms my heart and reminds me just how blessed I am to have that kind of love and connection.

Then come the morning drives with my daughter. I look forward to our conversations during the car ride to school. It’s one of my favorite moments of the day. Whether we’re chatting about something silly or discussing what she’s excited about, these little talks remind me of how much joy there is in simply being together. When I drop her off and she gives me her sweet hugs and kisses, it’s a little burst of love that stays with me all day long. As much as I’m proud of her growing independence, these moments of affection mean the world to me.

Laughter is another gift I treasure—especially when it’s unexpected. Whether it comes from a funny joke, a conversation, or one of those irresistibly cute cat videos, laughter always finds a way to lift my mood. It’s a reminder to find joy in the little things and not to take life too seriously.

Speaking of joy, my sweet fur baby has a way of brightening my day just by being herself. She “talks” to me constantly—most likely in hopes of more food—but her little voice and quirky personality never fail to make me smile. Her presence is a comforting part of my day, and I’m grateful for the love and light she brings into our home.

And finally, there’s writing and creativity. These are the things that make me feel most like myself. Whether I’m jotting down thoughts, crafting a blog post, or working on a creative project, it brings me peace and fulfillment. It’s my outlet, my therapy, and my joy—all wrapped into one. Writing and following my creative pursuits daily makes my day feel whole.

These simple moments, throughout everyday life, are what bring me true happiness. They remind me that joy doesn’t always come from big events or grand gestures—it’s found in the love, the connection, and the little things that surround us every single day.
