The Three Objects I Can’t Live Without

Daily writing prompt
What are three objects you couldn’t live without?

There are a few things I use every single day without even thinking about it—things that feel so natural to my routine that I’d probably panic if I suddenly didn’t have them. They aren’t just things; they help me stay connected, creative, and feeling like myself. When I really thought about what I couldn’t go without, three things popped into my head right away: my phone, my camera, and my moisturizer.

First, my phone. It’s pretty much an extension of me at this point. It keeps me connected to my loved ones, helps me stay organized, and is always there when I need to snap a quick photo or look back on old memories. But more than that, my phone has become my creative workspace. Almost all my creative projects happen right there—designing, writing, editing photos and videos—it’s all in the palm of my hand. It’s amazing how much I can do with just one device.

Then there’s my camera. I’ve always loved photography, and while my phone is great for quick snaps, my camera is what I grab when I really want to capture something in a way that feels special. There’s just something about freezing a moment in time—the laughter, the little details, the feeling of that exact second. Whether it’s a family gathering, a beautiful sunset, or just a random little moment I want to hold onto, my camera helps me do that in a way nothing else can.

And finally, my moisturizer. I’ve been using the same one for sixteen years, and at this point, it’s just part of who I am. It’s not just about skincare; it’s a little ritual that reminds me to slow down and take care of myself. Every morning and night, that quick moment of applying it is something small but meaningful. I don’t think about it much—it’s just something I do—but I know I’d definitely notice if it were gone.

These might seem like small things, but they’re part of my everyday life in a way that feels personal. My phone keeps me connected, my camera helps me hold onto memories, and my moisturizer is a tiny but important act of self-care. They aren’t just objects; they’re little pieces of me.
