Daily Prompt: Delayed Wardrobe Detox

What have you been putting off doing? Why?

Ah, the task I’ve been dreading for months now. 🙄

I need to go through my clothes that I haven’t used in the last five years. I can’t believe it’s been that long! In the past, I tackled a batch of clothes that I hadn’t touched in the last ten years and gave away most of it. I only kept a few items with sentimental value. I know, there I go again with my sentimental attachments. 😁 It’s really hard for me to part with something that means a lot to me.

Anyway, let’s return to the batch of clothes I haven’t used in five years. I’ve given away at least three tall bags but there’s more to go through. The clothes either don’t fit me anymore or I’m no longer into the style. My preferences in clothing and style have evolved since becoming a mom. Although it’s not a drastic change, I find myself gravitating more towards the classic style rather than what’s currently trending.

Though, I’ve been putting off the whole reorganizing of my wardrobe, I am going to make sure to allot some time before the holidays to get it done. That’s the main reason I’ve been delaying it. I don’t have enough time to tackle it yet. I prefer dedicating an entire day or weekend to projects like this, especially now that I have to do the same thing for my daughter’s wardrobe, and my husband said he’ll go through his stuff too. That way, we’ll welcome the New Year free from clutter and things we no longer need or want. We’ll only keep the ones that spark joy in us. 😊 As Marie Kondo says,

“Keep only those things that speak to your heart. Then take the plunge and discard all the rest.”

And that is exactly what we’ve been doing slowly. Any Marie Kondo fans here? We love her! 😍
