Daily Prompt: Q&A with my Husband

Interview someone — a friend, another blogger, your mother, the mailman — and write a post based on their responses.

For this Daily Prompt, I did a Q&A with my husband regarding his photography work in the past. We worked together as part-time photographers a couple of years back and we also had a small photography business but we’re on pause with that as he’s busy with his full-time job and I as a full-time Mom.

Below is our Q&A: 😊

Question: What got you interested in photography?

Answer: I want to capture those fleeting moments.

Question: What photography style is your favorite? Why?

Answer:  Candid photography, because I love capturing people’s genuine expression. I love it when people are more relaxed and are in their natural state. It’s a photo of themselves that they don’t expect to see.

Question: What’s your most memorable experience? Why?

Answer: I had the privilege of working with Jason Magbanua, a world-renowned wedding photographer from the Philippines, back in 2010 and although it wasn’t for photography (I assisted in taking a video for a celebrity wedding) the experience was memorable because I got to see the behind the scenes of his masterpiece work. I’ve been a fan for years and it was such a humbling and inspiring experience.

Question: What’s your least favorite experience?  Why?

Answer: My least favorite experience was when I photographed middle schoolers and one of the students touched my equipment and started taking photos while I went to see a teacher to give her the student IDs. Then when I got back I caught the student taking photos of himself and to make matters worse he accused me of making fake IDs. So I reported the student to the principal and they knew who he was. It turns out he has a “reputation” in the school.

Question: What’s the most challenging part of photographing students, and how did you overcome them to achieve the desired results?

Answer: I think the most challenging part was photographing special needs, students because I wanted them to feel comfortable so I could capture their best image. It was more of a personal challenge for me because I wanted to make sure that their parents were happy and satisfied with their photos. Thankfully the feedback has all been positive and they were very happy with the results.

Question: When photographing people, how do you establish a rapport and create a comfortable atmosphere to capture natural and genuine expressions?

Answer: I talk to them like a friend or someone I’ve known for a while and I make funny comments so I can capture their genuine reaction.

Question:  How do you stay inspired and keep your creativity flowing?

Answer:  The positive feedback from people I have photographed keeps me inspired and helps my creativity flow.

Question: Finally, what advice would you give to someone looking to pursue a photography career, based on your own experiences and insights?

Answer:  Just be yourself, be confident in your abilities, and enjoy every moment no matter what challenges you may face.

Hope you enjoyed our little Q&A as much as we did. 😊 Thank you for taking the time to read! ❤️
