“Perhaps when we find ourselves wanting everything, it is because we are dangerously close to wanting nothing.” — Sylvia Plath
Which do you find more dangerous: wanting nothing, or wanting everything?
I think wanting everything is more dangerous because there is a tendency for people to become greedy. There are people who become so consumed with the idea of having everything that they would go the extra length even if it means doing something against the law or violating other people’s rights. These are the types of people who would stop at nothing just to acquire anything that they want. They are only focused on getting what they want and they could care less if they hurt others in the process. In short these people are what we call selfish.
On the positive side, wanting everything could also have a different meaning for everyone. Everyone’s level of happiness and satisfaction is different. Wanting everything could simply be just living a life where you feel fulfilled emotionally and spiritually. Yes, it’s nice to have whatever material things we want and whatever luxury in life that we desire but if you are not emotionally and spiritually fulfilled, your happiness will be short-lived.
The truth is, we can’t have everything. Life is about balance and whatever we have now and whatever blessing that comes our way is because of the man above. HE directs our path even when sometimes we lose our way. HE always guides us back to the right path no matter how many detours we take. After all, HE’s the only one who knows what we really need and HE always provides it. ♥
