What It Really Means to Live a Good Life and Why It Matters

What are the most important things needed to live a good life?

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on what it truly means to live a good life. Beyond the daily grind and to-do lists, what really matters? I’ve come to realize that living well isn’t about perfection or ticking boxes — it’s about embracing the things that bring meaning, connection, and growth. For me, that means prioritizing meaningful relationships, especially being present for my daughter and creating memories that will last a lifetime. It means taking care of health — not just physical, but mental and emotional — through nourishing food, activity, and kindness to myself and my family. Purpose and passion also keep me going; writing, photography, and creative projects fill me with fulfillment, even when it’s hard. Practicing gratitude and mindfulness helps me find joy in everyday moments — like a cotton candy sunset or a simple treat. Balance is a constant work in progress as I juggle motherhood and personal dreams, learning to give myself grace when things don’t line up perfectly.

Resilience shows up when I face discouragement or family challenges, reminding me to keep moving forward and growing. Kindness and compassion guide how I treat myself and others, while valuing freedom and autonomy means trusting my choices and standing firm in my values. I also embrace learning and growth by exploring new opportunities and evolving as a person.

Recently, I saw a video where an influencer asked someone if they would take $10 million dollars — but the catch was that they wouldn’t wake up the next day. The man said no. That simple question reveals so much: life itself, with its possibilities and relationships, is more precious than any amount of money. It reminds me that living a good life is about cherishing the intangible gifts of health, love, purpose, and resilience. That realization made me teary-eyed because it echoes a truth I’m trying to live by: the richest life isn’t measured in dollars, but in moments, connections, and the courage to keep going.

At the end of the day, living well means showing up with intention, kindness, and an open heart. It’s about valuing each new day as a gift and finding joy even through the challenges.

So, what will you choose to cherish toIday? How will you show up for your good life?
