If I Had a Place Named After Me

Daily writing prompt
If you could have something named after you, what would it be?

If I could have something named after me, I’d love it to be a park with a garden—somewhere peaceful and beautiful, a place people could go to feel grounded, inspired, or just take a deep breath. I’d call it Edelweiss’ Sanctuary.

Edelweiss is a name that holds a quiet meaning for me. It has always reminded me of resilience, gentleness, and beauty—values I hold dear and hope to reflect in the world around me. Naming a peaceful place after it feels like the perfect fit.

The garden would be filled with vibrant blooms in every color, but there’d be a special section just for Edelweiss flowers—those delicate little blossoms that grow in the harshest conditions yet still manage to thrive. I love that about them.

There would be winding paths through tall trees, a small pond with two swans gliding across the surface, and cozy benches tucked away for reflection. In some of the rocks, there would be my husband and daughter’s drawings, etched into the stones, adding a personal touch that brings their creativity into the space. I imagine wooden signs and stone markers along the way, featuring quotes from my own writing and poems I’ve written—quiet little messages for anyone who might need them. A moment to pause, breathe, and maybe feel seen.

Edelweiss’ Sanctuary wouldn’t be anything flashy or grand—just a heartfelt space where nature and words gently come together. My hope is that anyone who visits leaves feeling inspired, uplifted, and a little more grateful for life’s simple, beautiful moments.
