There’s something special about hitting the open road. No strict schedules, no rushing through security lines, just the freedom to go wherever the road takes you. After years of traveling—whether it was quick weekend getaways or long cross-country drives—I’ve realized that road trips will always be my favorite way to travel.
The biggest reason? Flexibility. When you’re in a car, you’re in control. If I see a scenic overlook, a cute little diner, or a random roadside attraction, I can just pull over and check it out. No worrying about missing a flight or dealing with delays. Some of the best travel moments happen when you least expect them, and road trips allow for those spontaneous detours.
Comfort is another big thing. I can play my own music (which, let’s be real, means a lot of BTS), adjust the temperature to whatever I want, and just relax. No cramped airplane seats, no strangers falling asleep on my shoulder—just me, my family, and the open road. There’s also something about having all your essentials packed neatly in the trunk instead of stuffing everything into a tiny carry-on.
But what really makes road trips special is the journey itself. I’ve driven through deserts, forests, mountains, and along beautiful coastlines, and each time, I’ve been in awe of the views. Whether it’s the long, open stretches of Nevada, the stunning shores of Nova Scotia, or the rolling hills of New York, there’s something magical about watching the scenery change as you drive. And the best part? If I want to stop and soak it all in (or take a hundred pictures), I can.
Then there are the memories. Road trips are filled with little moments—singing along to songs, stopping at quirky roadside attractions, grabbing snacks at random gas stations, and having those deep, late-night conversations while the world outside is quiet. Some of my favorite travel experiences weren’t at big landmarks or famous tourist spots, but in those unexpected, simple moments along the way.
No matter how many road trips I’ve taken—from California to Utah and Arizona, from Vancouver to Montreal, or through the East Coast—I always get that same feeling of excitement when I hit the road. There’s something about knowing that anything can happen, that every turn leads to something new. That’s what makes it so special.
For me, road trips aren’t just about getting from one place to another. They’re about freedom, adventure, and making memories that last a lifetime. And as long as there are roads to explore, I’ll always choose a car over any other way to travel.
