Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?
I often find myself more focused on the NOW. Not that I don’t think about the past or the future—of course, I do. Yet, I make a conscious effort to be fully in the present moment. Even on special occasions, where I not only physically but also mentally immerse myself. While some argue that taking photos during these moments detracts from being present, I believe it’s possible to multitask. When capturing moments, I’m there not just physically but mentally.
Thinking of the past naturally leads me to contemplate the future. Past memories serve as my WHYS—anchors shaping who I am today. Happy memories bring instant joy, lifting my spirits during low moments. They inspire me to live a more positive life. On the flip side, recalling ‘not-so-happy’ moments teaches valuable life lessons. Tough times and challenges become my reminders, shaping better choices for the future.
Some say the past predicts the future, but I beg to differ. Our perspectives vary, making us unique. The past changes us irrevocably. We draw inspiration from both good and bad memories, using them to navigate our futures. Ultimately, the past is the key to our future when we leverage it to better our lives.
