Tasty Thursdays: Rainy Nights, Tasty Bites at Guu with Garlic

It was a rainy winter afternoon when we kicked off a road trip from Washington State to Vancouver. We arrived at our Airbnb on Robson St., and our stomachs declared it was past 9 PM – time to eat! Spotted a nearby Izakaya open until 11:30 pm – jackpot! The place was surprisingly lively, like a nocturnal food party with birthday crews holding it down. We even joined them in singing the birthday theme song. 🤣

Opted for the bar for that express lane service – who has the patience of a saint at this hour? Food zoomed in quicker than a pizza guy with a turbo boost. Tasted fresher than my attempt at morning coffee—plot twist, I don’t drink coffee in the morning. 😁 The staff? Friendlier than your favorite barista on a Monday morning.

The vibe? Nostalgic Japan feels, like a cozy flashback. Oh, how I miss Japan and the good eats they have. So, if you’re in the neighborhood and feeling spontaneous, check out Guu with Garlic. I’m not a food critic, but I’ll bet my last fry – you won’t leave disappointed. 😉
