What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Honey, you don’t wait for the perfect time. You create the perfect time. Don’t wait until you’re old like me before you start doing things that you truly love. That’s one of my biggest regrets. I kept putting things off because I was waiting for the right time and when I finally decided to pursue what I love, my body started falling apart. I wish I traveled to the places I wanted to see when I was your age, but now I can’t do everything because of my health. So, don’t wait for the perfect time, create it.

I will never forget that day, most especially the profound conversation I had with a former colleague, who was about two weeks away from retirement. I think about her advice all the time. I remind myself to live in the now and that anytime can be the perfect time.
