How often do you walk or run?
Ah, walk or run?
Walking is the winner in my book. I’m not much of a runner even as a kid. I wasn’t very fond of playing games where I had to run so much, perhaps that’s partly due to having asthma as a child. Walking on the other hand is something I don’t mind at all. It’s a good thing because I love traveling and exploring different places and I think as a tourist, you have to love walking as well. A comfortable pair of shoes is a MUST, though I’ve had experiences in my twenties where I chose fashion over comfort. My feet suffered from those poor choices but the joys of exploring made me forget about the pain right away. 😁
Speaking of the joys of exploring over pain, I think the worst experience I’ve had was during our Euro trip a couple of years ago. Nothing tops that memory and so as the pain my foot endured because of one huge mistake I made before heading to the airport. How can I forget that time when my feet didn’t just get blisters, yes, not just a foot but both…my poor feet endured so much for the love of traveling and exploring during that Euro trip. On top of that, I had #jellolegs the entire time from all the walking! 🤣 So what huge mistake I made you might ask? I grabbed the wrong shoes on the day of the flight! Why? Because that’s what happens (at least to me) when you stay up too late packing and can’t sleep right away because of excitement. I must’ve fallen asleep close to waking up and didn’t hear my alarm at all. I woke up within the time that I was supposed to be at the airport checking in my bags and the airport was 30 minutes away plus traffic. It was like being in the Amazing Race for sure! I love that show by the way and would love to be on it one day! 🤣
I love the cobblestone streets of Rome BUT if you’re wearing the wrong shoes, it is going to be a struggle! I love my shoes but they weren’t made for long walks. It was too narrow and since I’ve only used it a few times, the leather wasn’t stretched out enough.
Ooops…am I off topic now? Sorry friends, I got carried away sharing how my feet endured so much from too much exploring. 😊
So back to the subject. 😁 I prefer walking and I make an effort to get 10K steps a day and if for some reason I can’t accomplish that, I try to get as close to it as possible. I do at-home exercises and especially love Zumba! I love dancing so doing Zumba doesn’t feel like exercise to me at all. It’s so much fun and you don’t even realize that you have reached your 10K goal within 60-90 minutes of dancing. If I already have about 2K steps before I start with Zumba, it usually takes only 60 minutes for me to get the 8K more steps that I need. Sometimes even less than 60 minutes. It depends on the routine too and the energy you’re putting into it. Most days I already have between 4500-5K steps before doing Zumba, so that’s an easy 30-40 minutes of dancing. It is so much fun and I love it when my daughter joins in. She loves dancing as well and so does my husband. Sometimes my husband is too tired from work and doesn’t have any more energy to spare to do Zumba. It’s something I look forward to every day. If you haven’t done Zumba before, give it a try. You might like it. 😉 The group that I follow on YouTube makes dancing so much fun and never boring. In case you’re interested, let me know in the comments and I’d be happy to share the link. 😊
Wow! My post is super long now but I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed sharing my stories. 😊 I went from choosing between walking or running to my aching feet during our Euro trip to my love for Zumba. 🤣
Anyway, hope you’re all having a great weekend. Stay happy and blessed! ❤️
